3 Minute Demo: The Wampler Terraform as a Country Catch-All Pedal

Hey Everyone! I thought I would put a video together showing why I love having the Wampler Terraform on my small/travel board. While it is true that other companies also make fantastic multi-modulation effects units, here’s why I love this approach, and why I like the Terraform in-particular:

1. It sounds good. Let's face it, we are using these little boxes to make sounds we want to hear. If this unit did not sound good, what else is there to talk about? Thankfully, that's not the case! The effects that Wampler packed into this little box all meet or exceed expectations. They are more than enough to get you through a gig, and if I am being honest, I have experimented with using this pedal as outboard gear in my project studio more than once. It's good.

2. The small footprint. The small formfactor of this pedal is a huge win on any pedalboard where real estate is an issue. If you are going small format, like I discuss in the video, then every centimeter counts!

3. It is easy to use. There's not scrolling through menus. There's a selector dial, controls, a tap tempo, and an on-off. That's it. You can even make presets prior to the gig, meaning there's practically zero fiddling required to dial up a quality sound!

So why do I call this the "country catch-all" pedal? Well, for many of us who get hired to play in more traditional country/Americana groups, we normally do not use much modulation. So, taking up precious real estate on a pedal board with multiple effects (namely tremolo, chorus, and phaser) does not always make sense. However, for the occasions where we get a callout, or for those one, two, or three songs in the set where you want it, this pedal can fit the role perfectly. For all of the rest of the time where you are doing regular old chicken picking, this pedal has a minimal footprint on your board, and it can stay tucked away!

To be totally clear, this video is not sponsored by anyone, including Wampler. This is just my honest opinion, with my goal being to share a bit of the small knowledge and experience that I have with you!

For anyone curious about what I played:

1. An instrumental version of Patsy Cline’s “Crazy”;

2. A I-IV in the key of "A"

3. A riff from "Two Dozen Roses" by Shenandoah

Time Stamps:

00:00 - Tremolo (Classic Ballad)

00:27 - Phase ("Outlaw")

00:48 - Chorus (80's Sound)

01:03 - Explanation About Why It's the "Catch-All"
