3 Minute Demo: UAD Dream 65 vs. Strymon Iridium | For Country Guitar

Hey Everyone! Thanks for tuning in. Sorry for the delay in uploads, but sometimes life gets in the way. That being said, please do not get discouraged, there's plenty of great stuff coming!

So, about this video:

How this video was recorded -- I tracked every all of the guitar playing for this video as a DI signal using a Meris 440. I then "reamped" each piece of audio using the same Meris 440 and recorded the identical takes with the UAD Dream 65 and the Strymon Iridium individually. In other words, there is zero difference in the playing for each clip because the takes are the same, just reamped through each pedal.

Are these pedals different? -- YES. I sincerely feel like these pedals fill two different roles. The Strymon Iridium is a more general IR loader that is based on a Deluxe Reverb-ish sound, while the UAD Dream 65 is the closest thing to an exact copy of a Deluxe Reverb in a pedal. The user interfaces are different, the workflow with the pedal is different, and the features are different (note the reverb vs. room sound portion of this video).

What's the takeaway -- If you are in the market for an amp-style pedal and you are a Deluxe user (or you want to be), then I suggest giving the features of these two pedals a very close look. I LOVE the sound of the UAD Dream 65 and for me, I think I'd go with this pedal in scenarios where I want to run direct to the board. However, if I want to play with IRs, I think the user interface and room feature of the Iridium would give me a better experience. It's all in what you want!
