3 Minute Demo: Old Peavey Solid State Amps (Bandit 65)

Hey Everyone!

I thought I would do a bit of exploring into the sound of Peavey solid state amps from years past. This amp belongs to my father, who bought it new in the 1980's. The Peavey Bandit 65's have been the tool for country pickers, hard rockers, and even metal players for many years, but, at least in country circles, Peavey solid state amps have fallen a bit out of vogue. Admittedly, I never spent much time with this amp until now, instead choosing vintage tube amps as my addiction, haha.

However, I can now say that was my mistake. I have learned quite a bit about these old amps while spending some time with this Peavey, and I've gotta say -- there was a reason so many pickers played these things! While they are climbing in price on the used market, they can still be had for a fraction of what their vintage tube counterparts sell for, and they might be worth a try!

Gear I am using:

- Guitars: 1967 Fender Telecaster, Gretsch G6120 Chet Atkins model

- Pedals: Barber Tone Press Compressor, MXR Carbon Copy Delay, Wampler Terraform (for the chorus in the last clip)

- Amp: 80's Era Peavey Bandit 65
