3 Minute Demo: Baritone Guitar in Country Music

Hello Everyone! As always, thank you so much for checking out my video. I thought I would show six different examples of ways that I like using a baritone electric guitar in country music. I used my Danelectro U-2 Baritone Guitar for all of the bari work on this video (everything stock on the guitar).

I recorded all of the baritone guitar parts direct-in, and then reamped them later through an all original 1964 Fender Deluxe Reverb with the effects listed on each segment.

Note: All of the tracks were recorded with the baritone tuned A to A except for the "Spaghetti Western," which was recorded B to B.

0:00 - Bakersfield / TicTac

0:27 - 80's - 90's Country Lead/Intro

0:37 - Classic Country Shuffle

0:57 - Spaghetti Western

1:31 - Country Ballad (with Distortion)

2:06 - Modern Country

2:37 - Closing Remarks

I think it is important to mention that there are way more examples of baritone guitars being used in country music beyond what I have shown in this roughly 3 minute video. I simply chose some of my favorites in the hopes that I might help spark some creativity for your own playing and projects. That said, I want to show a variety of different tones and effects on the baritone, but by no means should you use my settings or selections as "gospel" when applying these things to your songs. For instance, there is no reason to use distortion in a country ballad unless you do not want to (fun side note -- that portion was me riffing on a Dwight Yoakam tune, can you tell which one?).

Thank you so much for watching!
