3 Minute Demo: Greer Soma '63 for Country Guitar

Hello Everyone! I recently picked up this Greer Soma '63 preamp pedal at the recommendation of my friend and one of my guitar heroes, Johnny Hiland. Admittedly, this is my first "preamp" styled pedal, and I was skeptical about it at first. However, I have to say that I really love it! So much so that I wound up taking the overdrive pedal off of my board because I felt like this preamp pedal was able to do the job of an overdrive, plus acting as a clean tone shaping pedal.

It needs to be mentioned that this video was NOT sponsored by anyone and I bought this pedal at full price with my own money. While I tend to play pretty clean tones most of the time, it is nice having the ability to drive the pedal for those occasions when it is necessary. That said, I realize the "high gain" part of the video might be a bit over the top, but I simply wanted to show how far this pedal could go with its gain range.

Also, this pedal was designed to be able to handle a range between 9V and 18V, and Greer's website describes there being a tonal difference at different voltage points -- so I wanted to test this. That said, I believe I need to add a disclaimer that you should not use varying power levels with pedals not specifically designed for such purposes. To do so runs the risk of damaging the electronic components within the pedal.

I used a partscaster tele into the Greer Soma '63 into a vintage 1964 Fender Deluxe Reverb. I am running the Deluxe Reverb into a Two Notes Captor X reactive load box into the Two Notes Wall of Sound plugin with the "Deluxe" IR speaker selected.

Thank you all so much for watching, and I hope you will consider subscribing to my channel for more videos like this!
