3 Minute Demo: How Cable Length Affects Tone

Hey Everyone! I thought I would make a video demonstrating "capacitance" in your signal chain. I used cable length as a (hopefully) simple way to get the point across. The lengths I used were 6 inches, 5 feet, 10 feet, 20 feet, and 50 feet.

If you take nothing else away from this video, please remember: the longer your cable/signal, the higher the capacitance, the higher the capacitance, the more definition you lose (particularly in the high end / treble).

While this was not the point of the video, the next step after reading about capacitance would be to research buffers!

My signal chain/record setup for this video was as follows: guitar -- cable -- amp -- speaker out to load box (Two Notes Captor X) -- line out of load box to audio interface -- DAW with Two Notes Wall of Sound for the cab IR. I chose to use a mic-less setup specifically to avoid any added variables to this demonstration.

Also, I realize that playing consistency between takes will never be as accurate as a reamp method with a single take. However, I feared using a reamper because of the way the signal undergoes conversions.
