3 Minute Demo: Phaser in Country Music (But Not Waylon Jennings)

Hey Everyone! I thought I'd make a video demonstrating a few different examples of the "phaser" effect being used in country guitar. You will notice that I left off one quite obvious example -- Waylon Jennings. That was intentional on my part, but has nothing to do with my feelings about Waylon or his music.

In fact, I'm a very big fan of Waylon Jennings and his guitar playing. I chose to leave him out of this video, though, because I felt like his use of the phaser has been so well covered by others that I really cannot cover new ground with it. Also, I think for most of us, when we hear "country guitar" and "phaser" in the same sentence, we immediately think of Waylon and his sound. So, I just wanted to do something a bit different with this little three minute video!

I would love to hear from you all about other great examples of the phaser effect being use in unique or cool ways in country music. There are certainly plenty to choose from!

For those curious, I chose to use the MXR Phase 90 mostly because it's one of the most readily available and recognizable phaser pedals on the market today. Plus, I had it on hand and ready to use!

PS - For any of my regular viewers, I apologize for being MIA the past couple weeks. Unfortunately, I came down with an illness that kept me away from shooting videos for a bit. However, I am back!
